April 2026 is stacked. Whether you’re a PS5 owner, Xbox gamer, Switch player or PC enthusiast, this month has something that should genuinely be on your radar. From Bethesda’s space RPG finally hitting PlayStation to a brand new Sony exclusive, a free-to-play Pokemon battler, and Capcom’s most ambitious new IP in years — let’s break down everything dropping this April.
🚀 Starfield — PS5 (Early April)
It’s finally happening. Bethesda’s massive space RPG — which launched exclusively on Xbox and PC back in 2023 — is making the jump to PS5, and Bethesda says this version takes full advantage of PS5 hardware including DualSense adaptive triggers, touchpad support, and lightbar integration. PS5 Pro players get to choose between Performance Mode for higher frame rates or Pro Visual Mode for maximum graphical quality. If you’ve been holding out, this is a substantial RPG with hundreds of hours of content. It’s a divisive game — some love the exploration loop, others find it overwhelming — but at this stage there’s enough community content and guides to help you get the most out of it.
⚔️ Saros — PS5 (April)
This is the big Sony first-party exclusive for the month. Saros is a dark action game that’s been building serious hype in the PlayStation community. Details have been kept relatively tight but the visual style and combat footage shown so far has drawn comparisons to Returnal in its intensity. One of the more exciting original IPs Sony has pushed this generation.
🎮 Pokémon Champions — Switch (April)
Free-to-play and arriving on Switch and Switch 2 this month — with mobile following later — Pokémon Champions is essentially the online Pokémon battle arena game the community has wanted for years. Think Pokémon Stadium meets a modern live-service battler. It launches with cross-platform support when the mobile version arrives, and features the series’ most iconic creatures in flashy competitive battles. Given that it’s free-to-play, there’s no reason not to try it.
🔫 Pragmata — PS5, Xbox, PC (April)
Capcom’s Pragmata has been in development for years and it’s finally arriving. A sci-fi action game with hacking minigames woven into its combat, it stars co-leads Hugh and Diana in a story that’s shaping up to deliver some genuinely emotional storytelling alongside its action. It’s been compared to Binary Domain — a cult classic — and if Capcom sticks the landing this could be one of the sleeper hits of 2026.
🔥 Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred — All Platforms (April 28)
The next major expansion for Diablo IV arrives at the end of the month, adding a new story act, new class, new zones, and a full season of content. If you drifted away from Diablo IV after launch, the game has improved substantially through updates and the Vessel of Hatred expansion. Lord of Hatred looks to push the story forward in a significant way.
🐭 Mouse: P.I. For Hire — Multi-Platform (April 16)
The indie surprise of the month. A first-person shooter styled after rubber hose cartoons — think 1930s animation meets Bioshock — where you play a private detective mouse solving mysteries while punching faces. It’s gleefully weird and the hand-drawn 2D animation in a 3D FPS is something genuinely unlike anything else releasing this year.
🎙️ The Gamer Couch Take
April is genuinely one of the stronger release months of 2026 so far. Starfield on PS5 alone is a massive get for PlayStation owners who missed it. But Saros, Pragmata, and Pokémon Champions all represent different types of gaming experiences dropping in the same month — and with the PS5 price hike also landing April 2, anyone who just bought the console at the new price is at least getting a month worth playing through. We’ll be covering several of these in depth on the podcast, so stay tuned.
